Landman & Musician Matt Castille Brings TotaLand’s Videos Alive

When you combine the talents of a professional musician and a Landman in training, you get Matt Castille, TotaLand’s Media Production Specialist. Matt is using both talents to create innovative, entertaining, and educational training videos for TotaLand’s software. Matt incorporates the advanced details of TotaLand’s software while using the power of music to enhance the learning process.

As a professional musician, Matt understands the importance of implementing music into all of TotaLand’s videos and even daily life. Matt saw the importance of engaging the brain on both the conscious and subconscious levels. His focus is to have everyone engaged in the material in the video and to a have an effective training experience. Here’s a sample of one of Matt’s training videos:

Studying the science behind music drives Matt in his perfection of TotaLand’s training videos. Matt’s knowledge has demonstrated that music both relaxes and focuses the brain and is dependent on the tracks used. He strategically uses a light jazz background verses using intense Heavy Metal Rock which would thunder over the instructor’s voice!  Matt stated that, “Studies have shown that properly selected pieces do have a positive effect on the learning process.”

Matt realizes that music sets the tempo for the presentation. Additional studies show that students learn new material better when it is presented with a mildly upbeat, mid-tempo piece of music playing in the background.  Classical and soft jazz music has been extensively studied in this regard as being  highly effective in retaining and learning.

In addition, Matt’s appreciation of Louisiana’s French and Cajun culture has inspired him to begin work on TotaLand’s “Lagniappe” videos. Lagniappe is French wording meaning “a bonus or a little gift.”  With Matt’s videos, landmen not living in Louisiana will be able to experience Louisiana not only with its advanced technology but also with its magical swamps, zydeco music, alligators, and the mouth-watering cuisine of jambalaya and gumbo. Matt desires to share his unique surroundings with all landmen.

When Matt isn’t working on TotaLand’s videos, he plays guitar, accordion, and sings as a “one man band”, a full time job he’s held for over 12 years. He’s performed for various festivals, corporate events, nightclubs, crawfish boils, back yard parties, and just about any type of venue you can think of in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi.
