BP Starts Next Expansion Project Phase In Gulf of Mexico

Supermajor BP has started up its Thunder Horse South Expansion Phase 2 project located in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The Phase 2 project is expected to increase output at one of the largest fields in the Gulf of Mexico, with a peak annual average gross production of 25,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day from the initial two well tieback. Eventually, a total of eight wells are expected to be drilled as part of the project’s overall development.

OGCI Revises Upstream Targets for 2025

The Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) has announced that it has revised its collective upstream targets for 2025.The organization’s carbon intensity target now aims to reduce the average carbon intensity of member companies’ aggregate upstream oil and gas operations from 23kg of greenhouse gases per barrel of oil equivalent in 2017 to 17kg by 2025. This target was changed from 20kg after members reported 19.5kg in 2020
